LIBRARY PRODUCTIONS was honoured to handle the full project management of the 2024 incarnation of The Mercury Prize at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, a prestigious one-off event. 

The challenge of producing an event in such an iconic venue added a layer of complexity to the project, but our expertise in managing high-profile and highly complex events, allowed us to deliver an exceptional experience, balancing the newly imaged creative vision of the Mercury Prize with the unique requirements of Abbey Road Studios.

Our first task was to create detailed 3D drawings of the event space. Abbey Road Studios, known for its rich history in music production, presented both opportunities and constraints in terms of design. We worked meticulously to map out the layout, ensuring that the event space maintained its historic charm while also providing a functional setup for live performances, audience seating, content projections and TV coverage from The BBC. 

A major part of the project involved scheduling. Working in Abbey Road Studios required us to develop a detailed timeline that coordinated every aspect of the event setup, rehearsals, and the live show itself. The studio’s operational schedule had to be respected, which meant we had limited time for installation and testing as well as de-rig. Our experience with complex event management allowed us to work efficiently within these constraints, ensuring that all technical elements—such as lighting, sound, and stage rigging—were in place and fully functional within the allotted time.

Overall, Library Productions Limited successfully delivered a landmark event at Abbey Road Studios for the 2024 Mercury Prize. Through careful planning, detailed design, and precise management, we transformed this iconic but challenging space into a venue that perfectly reflected the prestige of the Mercury Prize. Our ability to manage both the logistical and creative aspects of the project ensured a memorable and impactful event both in the room and for the TV audience.
