One of our key clients, The Hyundai Mercury Music Prize Album of the Year Awards is one of the most coveted awards in the UK music industry. The Awards takes the form of a live show, where the twelve shortlisted artists perform live in the venue back-to-back, in front of a seated audience of some of the music industry’s most influential people. The show is then broadcast on national television by the BBC.
LIBRARY PRODUCTIONS provides the Stage Management and Technical Production Management for the live show; and provides a full artist advance service to cover all technical elements of the artists’ performance. This is a really challenging show, taking place in a venue with many space restrictions. The artists play on on a revolving stage, with very limited time available for technical change-overs. The needs of the artist, the client, the sponsors and the BBC broadcast team are all taken into account with all our technical planning of the stage, to ensure we deliver a faultless show throughout.
Artists who have performed at the live show as shortlisted artists during the past three years of our involvement include, Foals, Dave, Idles, Slowthai, Little Simz, Florence and the Machine, Lily Allen, Wolf Alice, The XX, Alt-J, Blossoms, Stormzy and Skepta to name a few.
